JOB DESCRIPTION
PRIMARY PURPOSE
To provide a full credit control function for the company in order to ensure an optimum cash flow and to minimise bad debts.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
· To cover all areas of credit management to include administering the company policy regarding the extension of credit in order to limit bad debt risk.
· To achieve cash collection targets set by collecting payments primarily by telephone and to forecast cash collections on a weekly basis
· To deal with customer queries by liaising with other internal departments to ensure satisfactory outcome to problems.
· To furnish management information on credit control matters as required including reporting DSO and overdues on a monthly basis.
· To obtain credit information and assess credit risk as necessary to enable the opening of a credit line.
· To oversee and action credit note function.
· To review daily orders and assess related credit.
· To complete EC sales and dispatch lists in accordance with HMRC instructions.
· To carry out any other reasonable task as may be requested from time to time.
FUNCTIONS SUPERVISED
· Cash collection forecasts, output, credit notes and order evaluation.
ASSISTS/CO-OPERATES
· Management Accountant, Financial Accountant, Finance Director and other internal departments as required.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE
· Good general education essential to at least ‘O’ level standard.
· Must be able to use Excel to a reasonable standard including the creation and use of pivot tables.
· Must be conversant in all aspects of credit control and have a minimum of 5 years experience.
RESOURCES
· Micro computer linked to mainframe and credit reference agencies.
DECISIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
· Decides on best working practices and recommends improvements to system where applicable.
· Extension of credit limit and authorisation of credit notes.
MENTAL EFFORT
· Must be able to organise own workload and be able to “think on one’s feet” when dealing with customers.
